Akpabuyo  ban masquerades and unauthorized gathering during the Yuletide

Akpabuyo local government has banned all forms of masquerade within the local government area during the Yuletide as part of measures to curb break down of law and order under the guise of celebration

The chairman of council, Rt.Hon. Emmanuel Offiong Bassey gave the hint yesterday in his office in a chat with the press

The council boss in his statement maintained that, ” this year’s Christmas and new year celebration has coincided with electioneering, so we have to take this measure to protect lives and property as a responsible Government at this level of governance”.

He also added that any gathering of more than ten people must seek for permission and clearance from the police authority in Akpabuyo Division.

He warned that  any body or group of persons who flout the order would have their selfs to blame as the law will take it full course on defaulters 

He called on parents to caution their children adding that the measure is not punitive but rather for the good of the people  of Akpabuyo local government and all the residents, while soliciting for their support and cooperation to make the local government a better and a peaceful place to stay 

The council boss said he has communicated to village Heads and Clan Heads in Akpabuyo to ensure that there is strict compliance of the order maintaining that any masquerade found anywhere in the local government, the traditional ruler in that area would be held responsible and would be sanctioned accordingly
