Cross River State Governor, prince Bassey Otu has ordered investigation into the causes of the recent boat mishap involving 14 medical students at marina resort in which 3 students are still missing as the time of this report while 11 others were rescued
In a statement issued by the chief press secretary to the governor, Mr Emmanuel Ogbeche, the governor decried the safety standards at the marina resort beach and has therefore ordered full scale investigation into the causes of the incident, vowing that anyone found guilty to have compromised on safety would be severely sanctioned
The statement reads; “the news of a cruise boat mishap at the marina resort, a tourist and relaxation destination in calabar is saddening and calls for concern not only as the Governor but as a parent”.
“As a government, our administration remains committed to protecting the sanctity of life and providing the enabling environment for business, tourism and peaceable living, therefore, any untoward action that could derail our objective will not be tolerated” he stated”.
Recalled that 14 medical students got involved in a boat mishap at the marina resort beach while in a cruise boat celebrating their annual health week in calabar
