Inter Party Advisory Council, (IPAC) Cross River State chapter said the plans by powerful political forces are carefully contrived to use security and the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC to rig the forthcoming elections in the state

Making the disclosure to journalists in a press conference in calabar, the state chairman of IPAC, comrade Anthony Bissong Attach said, “we suspect a plan to rig the forthcoming elections in cross River State”.

He queried why has the electoral umpire not allowed them to inspect the BVAS machines if they are not hiding something from them.

“We have therefore to let the general public note that we maintained our reservation on the true state of the BVAS machines, and that INEC is hiding something from them”.

He noted that the stalemate orchestrated by the Resident Electoral Commissioner for cross River State cast a lot of doubt about the level of transparency of the commission in the state. IPAC therefore has given INEC Commissioner in cross River State, prof.Gabriel Yomere  24hours to allow political parties in the state inspect the BVAS in addition to take full record of the IMEI number of the 3,281 BVAS machines to renew their confidence in the Commission.

IPAC in their statement also said that they have lost confidence in the leadership of the police in cross River State, “we have elected not to work with the current leadership of CRS police command because we don’t know what they are planning to do in the coming elections.”

They maintained that the leadership of the police in the state lacks capacity to enforce law and order in the state, the statement also added that the spate of kidnapping,  robbery and killings on the highways is totally unacceptable

IPAC then called for the immediate redeployment of the cross River State Police Commissioner and the DCP operations in the state

The state police commissioner, Alhaji Balarabe Sule in his reaction when contacted on phone call said, “I will maintain neutrality, and I have no I’ll intensions against any body, I will continue to remain impartial”.
