The APC Governorship candidate prince Bassey Edet Otu has been declared the winner of the 2023 Governorship Election in cross River State having pulled 258,619 to beat the PDP candidate, professor sandy Ojang Onor who scored 179, 636 votes
The state returning officer, professor Teddy Charles Adias from the Federal University of science and technology otuoke, Bayelsa said cross River has a total number of 1,766,466 registered voters, while 466,294 were accredited out of which 451933 were valid
The returning officer also added that a total number of PVCs collected where election did not hold, stood at 44,486 which was less than the margin of lead between the APC candidate who pulled the highest number of votes and the PDP candidate who pulled the second highest number of votes which lead stood at 78,983
The leading opposition candidate of the peoples Democratic party (PDP), professor sandy Ojang Onor scored the second highest number of votes which stood at 179,636, while the labour party candidate came third with a total number of votes which stood at 5,957
The Governor – elect, prince Bassey Otu had the highest number of votes in 15 local government areas out of 18 and also met with the constitutional requirements by pulling the highest number of votes scored amongst all the contestants, was therefore declared the winner of the Governorship election in the state and returned elected
