CROSIEC Postpones 2023 Local Government Election In C’ River

The cross River State Independent Electoral Commission ( CROSIEC) has postponed the 2023 local government election in the state which was scheduled for May 24, 2023

In a letter issued by the state electoral commission recently in calabar dated 27th September 2022 and signed by the chairman, professor Mike Ushie, said the rescheduled time table is due to budgetary concerns as the approved 2023 local government  election budget is captured in the 2023 appropriation with  no supplementary provision in the 2022 budget.

According to the letter, “the commission after extensive consultation with critical stakeholders, with due sense of humility and keeping with the provisions of section 24(2), 2022 electoral Acts as amended, announces the rescheduled of the election activities in the state 

The letter also fixed October 21, 2023 as the new date for the council polls in the state adding maintaining that the guidelines for the election remains unchanged
