The Hon.Commissioner for Urban renewal and Development in cross River State, Hon Emmanuel Edward has disclosed that the collapsed building at NTa Eke street, Ishie Town Residential Layout in calabar was in contempt of the stop work order, revocation and demolition notices posted on t//he affected site before the mishap
Making the disclosure in his office while briefing newsmen, the commissioner maintained that the affected site was sealed off last year when it was observed that the Residential structure had noticeable structural defect, it was listed for demolition but was waiting for the necessary approvals and court orders
He maintained that the development permit no MURD/TCP/BP/21/351granted in favour of the site on December 23, 2021was revoked with effect from 12th January, 2023. Adding that the developer failed to comply with the stop work order which was served on the site on October 14th 2022

The commissioner also made it known to the press that on the 12th of January, 2023, a letter from the ministry which was signed by the Director of Town Planning on behalf of the commissioner with subject matter, “REVOCATION OF BUILDING PLAN NO.
