The Governorship aspiration of Prof Sandy Onor led PDP in cross River State seems to face another setback as the Ejagham Federation after their meeting in calabar rose up in total support of “back to south” Agenda, rejecting the candidature of Prof Sandy Onor for the Governorship position in the state

The umbrella body of Ejagham extraction which cut across eight local government s in cross River State namely, Bakassi, Akpabuyo, calabar municipality, Odukpani, Akamkpa,Etung, Ikom and Ogoja in unison stamped unprecedented support for Prince Bassey Edet Otu, the Governorship Candidate of APC.

The Federation maintained that at no time did the people of Ejagham sat and agreed that it is the turn of Ejagham to produce a governor, and that if it should be, then it must be Ejagham from the southern District of the state, because zoning has brought relative peace and political stability in the polity

According to them,

“The action is a clear repellant to the tribal and ethnic political dichotomy exuded in recent times by some tribal bigots, whose aim is to leverage on an unfounded claims of ethnic disintegration to take power”

The Federation in their communique is to sustain the long-standing relationship and peaceful coexistence amongst the existing tribes, and are explicitly unwavering on their mission.

The Chairman of the Federation, Distinguished Senator victor Ndoma Egba, SAN, former Senate Leader , stressed the need to maintain Justice, Fairness and equitable rotation of power across the three Senatorial district, notably reiterating the fact that no single tribe amongst the numerous tribes in cross River State has the monopoly of capacity to decide where power goes to without a proper alliance  with other tribes hence the need to bury the tribal politics and maintain the love and togetherness the state have enjoyed over the years.

He further stressed that Tribal politics will rather take the state Backwards and should be nipped on the bud immediately.

Reading the communique, Ntufam Hilliard Etta, immediate past acting  National Chairman of APC  aligned completely without any equivocation, while further punching deep on the essence of love and togetherness, which is the way forward to development in the state.

He noted that no individual will hide under any Tribal slogan or guise to win elections, that the person firing this tribal bullets want to cause division, will end up firing himself on the foot, as this has never formed part of the state politics from it’s creation.

He maintained that it is a mere joker and show of weakness by the opposition to win sympathy which is a complete nullity as power belongs to the people not tribe.
