Etubom Ani sets up a committee for the construction of primary school for Ikot Offiong

In his avowed aim to make sure that Ikot Offiong children gets basic education, and in fulfillment of his promise to that community, Etubom Anthony Ani has inaugurated a seven Man committee for the construction of primary school for the people of Ikot Offiong

It would be recalled that the people of Ikot Offiong community in Odukpani had complained to Etubom Ani about the absence of some social services like schools in the last 23years when they paid a courtesy visit to him in his palace in calabar, which he had promised to build a befitting primary school for them

In his statement, “I had promised to show leadership by building a primary school as well as award scholarship to deserving students from that community” maintaining that education is the bed rock of any development and progress.

He stressed that a situation where children can not go to school means that generation is wasted and that, this must not allowed to happen 

“I had told them that since education is communal, they should not wait for government to provide these facilities all by it self, that they should start something first on their own”.

Etubom Ani then inaugurated a 7 Man committee with Etubom Nya Asuquo Eyoma as the chairman while chief Ekpo Eyamba will serve as the secretary of the committee for the construction of a (6) class room block primary school with all the modern facilities, promising that by this time next year, the school will commence studies

He tasked the community on the security of the pupils and facilities his words;

“Ikot Offiong community must give us a guarantee that pupils and the properties will be safe and that teachers and other staff will not be molested”

In his remarks, the chairman of the committee, Etubom Nya Asuquo Eyoma on behalf of the people of Ikot Offiong community said, “l thank our Obong-elect profusely for this singular gesture and love that he has extended to us, adding that it is not now that the Obong-elect has been of immense help to the people of Ikot Offiong” he stated.

Also responding, a community leader in Ikot Offiong, Okon Lazarus Okon said; “we are grateful for what out Obong has done for us”

“In the past he use to give us fish but now he is teaching uu how to fish in Ikot Offiong, God will bless you for giving us a school” he stated.
