Cross River State government has given certificate of recognition and staff of office to three paramount rulers in cross River State, they include, His Majesty, Etubom Nyong Effiom Okon (JP) as paramount ruler for Calabar South local government, Ndidem of the quas, Eta Bassey Eteta-Ita as the paramount ruler for Calabar Municipality and His Royal Majesty, Buturo Abua Mathias Odey, as paramount ruler for Ogoja local government
Performing the ceremony, the state Deputy Governor, professor Ivara Esu who represented the Governor, prof Ben Ayade urged the Monarchs not to be partisan when dealing with their subjects, stressing that they should see them selves as fathers to all and not to any particular interest especially as the country is approaching another election year
He advised the new paramount rulers to stay away from partisan politics. In his words,”let me congratulate you on behave of the Governor prof.Ben Ayade for ascending to the throne of your forefathers, I want to use this opportunity to advise you to stay away from politics ” maintaining that as paramount rulers, they are fathers to all and not to favour any particular interest, adding that they should not hupnup with politicians.
In his acceptance speech on behalf of others, the paramount ruler of Calabar Municipality, HRM Eta Bassey Eteta-Ita 111 promised to maintain peace and unity in their various Local Government Areas and to work according to government rulers and regulations and rule their subjects with the fear of God and be just in dealing with every matter concerning the people.
In a separate interview, the new paramount ruler of Calabar South, HRM, Etubom Nyong Effiom Okon said he would work tirelessly to make sure peace return to calabar south, while appealing to everyone leaving in that local government to cooperate with him so that he can achieve all what he has in other to make calabar south local government a better place to leave
