My Bills Impacted On My Constituents -Gershom Bassey

The senator representing southern senatorial district of Cross River State at the National Assembly,

 Senator Gershom Bassey has said that his eight years stay at the hallow chambers is fruitful, with a total of 35 bills to his credit in his two term in office, between 2015 to 2023

The law maker made the disclosure recently in Calabar while answering questions  from Journalists on account of his stewardship for the period  he spent at the upper Chambers of the National Assembly as senator  representing the southern senatorial district of Cross River State

Senator Bassey maintained that out of 35 bills which  successfully passed through the third reading, 18 were personal with  17,  co-sponsored by him alongside other lawmakers with about  55 motions to his credit and  13 being personal and 42  motions co-sponsored.

The law maker averred  that as a Senator representing Cross River South senatorial district, he facilitated the rehabilitation and construction  318 roads within the period under review.

He enumerated other projects that were facilitated by him to his constituency to include, renovation of 20 classroom blocks, 750 solar street lights, installed 35 transformers, 20 solar powered boreholes constructed and 20 primary health centres well equipped.

Senator Bassey also made it know to journalists that he initiated  empowerment programme in his constituency in which “3,409 persons benefited from various forms, a breakdown shows that 400  bursary grants were provided for undergraduates.

“50 foreign and local scholarships provided for post graduates, 500 grants for market women beneficiaries, 1,000 youths & women trained in various trade skills, 300 youths trained in solar installation and maintenance.

“300 youths trained in entrepreneurial skills and 20 youths trained and certified in international sub-sea underwater electrical & welding skills.

“100 mini buses donated to various groups, 100 tricycles donated to various groups, 200 motorcycles donated to women and youths in my constituency

“I donated 300 modern vulcanizing machines  to my constituents with 20 brand new 18 &32 seater buses  to various groups.

” 26 senate ad-hoc committees’ membership,  18 senate standing committees’ membership including ECOWAS parliament and the nigeria-morocco alliance committee, 60 youths employed in various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs)

“15 resolutions and reinstatement to employment for aggrieved constituents through the petitions mechanism of the senate”. Bassey maintained.

The lawmaker stressed that about N350 million was  disbursed to various constituents, 4,000 benefited from covid-19 grant of between  N450,000 to N750,000 while 120 beneficiaries got AGSMEIS loans of N2.5million each adding that  one ultra modern world class oil and gas park being facilitated by him is under construction.
