Otu charges Navy on Maritime Safety, Assures of Govt support

Cross River State Governor,  Prince Bassey Otu, has said that his administration will give Nigeria Navy of full cooperation and the necessary support to help in their efforts to secure the country’s waterways.

The Governor gave the assurance when the Flag Officer Commanding the Eastern Naval Command, Rear Admiral O. K. Oluwagbire, paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Calabar. 

He stated that Cross River  is intertwined with the Navy in terms of security as a coastal State, adding that they are all partners in the business of safety for the people and that, they will provide all the needed support.

In his words;”No business can thrive with insecurity. We want our waterways secured. Over the years, our waterways have been threatened by external and internal influences, I want to acknowledge the efforts of the Navy in providing the needed safety”. he stated.

He stated further; “We will continue to synergize with you, and request for greater synergy to ensure the needed safety for our state.” 

Earlier in his speech, the commanding officer, Eastern Naval command, Rear Admiral Oluwagbire was full of appreciation to the governor for his support, assuring that the Navy will continue to provide the needed security in the state.

“We will provide the needed support to all civil sectors in order to make Cross River one of the safest states in the country” he stated.
