Unical to graduate 7, 769 students in her 35th convocation

The authority of the University of Calabar has said that a total of seven thousand seven hundred and sixtynine (7,769) students of the institution will be graduating in her 35th convocation schedule for Saturday 6th of May 2023

Making the disclosure recently during a press briefing in calabar to mark the commencement of the 35th convocation of the University  at the Senate Chambers,  the vice chancellor, prof. Florence Banku Obi said that 11students have first class, 899 students have second class upper while 271 have second class lower 

She also disclosed that 721 students have third class while 519 PhD students will also be convocated 

The vice chancellor also told journalists that as part of the activities to mark the events, there will be a research fare and exhibition first ever organized by the institution which will be sponsored by Fidelity Bank PLC, and that prices and award would be  given to faculties and best researchers 

It was also reveal that there will be an investiture of Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, the Emir of Kano as the chancellor of the University of Calabar and that there would also be a convocation lecture by the chief of staff to the president, prof. Ibrahim Gambari 

Prof. Obi also made it known to the press that former president, Good luck Ebele Jonathan would be  given a Honourary Degree alone with two other people, chief Executive officer of Northwest petroleum and Gas, Mrs.Winnifred Akpani and a business tycoon, Tola Johnson

The University also disclosed that the award of first degrees, masters and diploma would be on the 5th of May 2023, while setting aside another date, 6th of May 2023 for the award of Doctorate degrees
