The Chief Medical Director of the University of Calabar teaching hospital professor Ikpeme Asanya Ikpeme has said that the desire of his administration is to provide first class infrastructural upgrade in the teaching hospital in line with the mandate given to him by the Federal Government.
Professor Ikpeme made the disclosure to journalists in cross River State who went on a courtesy visit to the hospital led by the state chairman of the union Mr Nsa Gill recently
According to the CMD “We need to invest in infrastructural upgrade , we need to serve our people to reduce medical Tourism by getting more equipment and we have made appreciable progress”
He said ,”We want a Health system where you are accountable a system where you don’t have to know anybody to get service”
He assured the leadership of the union of his administration readiness to partner with the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) maintaining that the hospital have the personnel and equipment for quick response at any given time when there is need, adding that, “we are here to serve our people”
He advised the new leadership of the Union in the state to carry all the Stakeholders along in the discharge of his assignment.
Earlier in his remarks the State Chairman of the Cross River State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists Comrade Gill Nsa Commended the Chief Medical Director of (UCTH) for his passion in providing first class Infrastructure in the hospital , especially in the Radiography department.and other units in the hospital.
Conducting journalists round the facilities in the hospital which includes Ultrasound Suits, the Mobile X-ray, computerized Tomography, Brain City Machine and cubicle rooms etc
